Project Competition
Who
University (including graduate schools) or community college neurodivergent students who have autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning disabilities can register a team to participate. This competition is open to all relevant majors. Thanks to our sponsors, participating in this competition is free.
What
Project title and content are up to the participants to decide, but need to associate with one of following four themes: cloud, AI/ML, games and AR/VR. Your project may be relevant to multiple themes, but please associate it with only one theme for judging purposes. Participants are not allowed to copy other open-source projects.

How
Each team after registration will be paired with a project mentor (IT professional in industry). Project mentor will guide and support the team in the two-month development time through virtual office hours. After all teams finish registration, there will be an online kick-off meeting for each theme. In the kick-off meeting speakers from IT companies, such as Microsoft Inc., will present on the theme-specific technical topics and share their best-practice at work.
Why
Participating in the projects, you will
- Learn technical skills pertaining to computer science and computer engineering. Projects in each of the themes involve working with software platforms, libraries, frameworks and hands-on programming.
- Learn product and project management skills. Before going straight to work, the participants will work on simple project management skills by taking notes of how to organize time, delegate tasks and create a demo for their finished project.
- Learn interpersonal skills. By working in small groups, the participants will learn about collaboration and teamwork, which is important in most working environment.
